Interesting Facts

34 healthcare facilities in the Eastern Virginia Region have permanently installed amateur radio stations supported by HEART.

HEART also has amateur radio stations installed in 2 Mobile Command Trailers.

The HEART Program has been featured in QST (June 2016) and five different times in SERA (SouthEastern Repeater Association).

All participating healthcare facilities have a fully functional Amateur Radio Station and permanently installed antenna.

Some Amateur Radio Stations also have a Terminal Node Controller installed

The HEART Team also has six WiresX Systems: Virginia Beach, Newport News, Gloucester, Williamsburg, Onancock and Smithfield.

Also the HEART Team has six Yaesu Fusion Repeaters. These repeaters are located in Newport News, Virginia Beach, Suffolk, Williamsburg, Gloucester and Smithfield.

There are agreements with Trustees of other repeaters for use in times of emergencies and training.

HEART has training nets once a month.

These nets are held either on the air, Teleconference, or WiresX.

All HEART volunteers are dedicated to their respective individual healthcare facility.
